We, the Saul family, own and manage The Nest at Big Trees. Our family of eight (yep, that's six kids) live full-time in the Sacramento area but try to escape to the mountains whenever we can. We truly enjoy sharing our special place with guests!

The Nest at Big Trees is located in the Snowshoe Springs neighborhood in the (very) small town of Dorrington, California. We are a part of historic Calaveras County, in the Stanislaus National Forest, and situated along upper HWY 4/Ebbet's Pass.

You can read about the specifics of our sleeping arrangements here to see if our cozy (<1200 sq.feet) cabin will be a good fit for you.

On the first floor, you will find the living room, including a smart tv and fireplace. The sofa folds out in to a queen sized bed. There are toys, games, dvds and books to enjoy. There is also a small breakfast nook and counter seating for 3 (no full dining table).

In the kitchen, you will find everything you need to prepare and serve meals inside or out on the deck. There is an electric stove top, oven, dishwasher, toaster, and coffee pot (bring k-cups!). We have lots of dishes, pans, utensils, etc. for use.

The master bedroom is on the first floor and has a queen sized bed. There is a dresser, ceiling fan, and a wall a wall-mounted smart tv. This bedroom has a door to the first floor bathroom, too.

The first floor bathroom has a large shower space with double shower heads. We provide bath and hand soaps for guests to use.

Upstairs are two small bedrooms with full-size beds. There are dressers for guests, a/c units, and floor fans in both bedrooms. The bedrooms both have jack-and-jill-style access to the second bathroom.

The second bathroom is only accessible through the second floor bedrooms. It has a tub with overhead shower. We provide bath and hand soaps for guests to use.

The third floor loft is only accessible by a ladder on the second floor landing. It is a space that is best for big kids (or adults that are kids at heart and don't mind a low ceiling and ladder entrance). There is a full size bed and two twin beds in the loft. It is not a space that is safe for young children to be in unattended. Older, responsible children will love it, though!

Sit outside on the back deck and enjoy the bbq, adirondack chairs, and hammock. This is a perfect space to share a meal, enjoy the forest, and relax.
