Calaveras Big Trees State Park

One of the greatest draws of staying at The Nest at Big Trees is it's close proximity to the world's largest trees, located in Calaveras Big Trees State Park. The giant sequoia groves are awe-inspiring, but that isn't all that this gem of a park has to offer.

Junior Ranger Program: During the summer, the park offers Junior Ranger programs for young naturalists. Children are invited for crafts, campfire stories, and trail explorations led by park rangers.

Guided Hikes: Hikes led by rangers give insight in to the life cycles and history of the sequoias

Solo Hikes: The North Grove Trail is a flat, easy hike that is perfect for anyone. Families and those with limited mobility will especially appreciate it's accessibility. Be sure to pick up a brochure at the start of the trail so you can identify the historic trees, like The Pioneer Cabin Tree and The Father of the Forest, along your walk.

More experienced hikers will enjoy the South Grove and Bradley Grove hikes. Read more about these trails on the Big Trees SP webpage.

Visitor Center: You'll find a small museum, book store, and everything you may need to enjoy the park in the visitor center.

Camping and Cabins: The park offers two different campgrounds, as well as a group space, for two different types of camping experiences. They also have cabins for those not feeling quite up to camping. Though we highly recommend skipping both for the comfort of staying in The Nest at Big Trees and making the 7 minute drive to Big Trees State Park.

Special Event Rentals: Imagine your special event being held under a canopy of Giant Sequoia Redwoods! Big Trees SP will work with you to host weddings, celebrations, and scouting events, etc.
